1.14.3 DS-1 Twisted-Pair Cable Management
Connect twisted pair/DS-1cables to SMB EIAs on the ONS 15454 backplane using cable connectors and
DS-1 electrical interface adapters (balun).
Procedure: Route DS-1 Twisted-Pair Cables
When using DS-1 twisted-pair cables, the backplane cover has cutouts over the SMB cable connectors.
SMB EIAs feature cable-management eyelets for tie wrapping or lacing cables to the cover panel.
Step 1 Install DS-1 electrical interface adapters on every transmit and receive connector for DS-1 ports.
Step 2 Use wire-wrap posts on the DS-1 electrical interface adapters to connect the terminated incoming cables.
Step 3 Tie-wrap or lace the twisted-pair cables according to local site practice and route the cables into the side
cutouts on either side of the ONS 15454.
