Starting a network

• If you use Cable:

- You will need a Linksys Router.

• If you use ADSL:

- You will need a Linksys Modem Router.

If you add a Linksys Adapter, Range Extender

or Wireless PrintServer, to your network,

just make sure that the Router and Adapter

match, to maximise performance and range

(e.g. Wireless-N router with

Wireless N adapter).

Wireless routers give you the freedom to work and play around your house, safely and

more securely. And Linksys by Cisco routers make it easy for anyone with a high-speed

Internet connection to get started.

Pop in the software CD

included with your router

This handy software is included with every

Linksys by Cisco router. It will walk you through

a few simple steps that will help you get the

most out of your secure wireless experience.

Plug your Wireless Router into

your cable or DSL modem

The modem may have been provided by your

Internet provider, or you may have purchased

one. It should reside between the connec-

tion coming out of your wall (COAX cable or

phone line) and your computer. Just unplug it

from your computer and plug it into the router

instead.

Check to see if your computer

has wireless capabilities

Most new computers do. But if you don’t, it’s

easy to get wireless compatibility with a wireless

adapter. Not sure? On a Windows PC, go to

the Start menu and click on Control Panel, then

Network Connections. If there is a listing for a

Wireless Network Connection, you’re all set.

On a Mac, look for the Wireless icon in your

Menu bar.
